Handy Cap app statement

Golf Australia regretfully advises that it is unable to continue supplying Australian golf club member data to the Handy Cap app.

Golf Australia had been in talks with the application's developer to acquire Handy Cap in order that use of the app could continue.

However, these talks broke down.

While Golf Australia apologises to those who use the app regularly, it also asks that people understand the reasons behind this decision.

Golf Australia chairman Andrew Newbold said: "The integrity of our handicap service to members is paramount.

“Any threats to the security of that information might have far-reaching consequences for not only Golf Australia, but for our members as well.

“It is vital to the future of grass-roots golf in Australia that we strengthen our position in this area."

Golf Australia understands the disruption this move has caused and that there is now a gap in the marketplace.

While the evolving Covid-19 situation requires our focus, Golf Australia is actively working towards the development of an app for Australian golfers.
