Green goes top-three on LPGA
by Martin Blake
Hannah Green equalled her best result of the LPGA Tour season with a sensational, closing 66 at the Mediheal Championship in San Francisco today. Working up towards her tilt at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, Green continued her push toward becoming the No. 1 ranked Australian with a third place finish. At eight under par, only Finland's Matilda Castren and Chinese Taipei's Min Lee ended up ahead of her. "Sounds really obnoxious, but I had a few more opportunities from close range and didn't feel comfortable with them and didn't put a good stroke. Just bobbled all over the place," she said. "Super happy with the round. Felt like it was possible out there, but obviously had to have everything going, so it was nice to finish like that." Green, 24, has had a solid season so far without managing a win, moving up to No. 15 in the world rankings, just one spot behind the top-ranked Australian, Minjee Lee. Lee finished tied-40th at Lake Merced; the Western Australian pair are certain to be named as Australia's Tokyo Olympic Games representatives in the near future. "Yeah, it's nice that I do have a good weekend," Green said. "I feel like my first two years I was just striving to make the cut and then golfing around on the weekend. "So I guess it's nice to have experience of being in contention, and obviously having a couple wins you're never really out of it. Obviously that's the goal, is to have many weeks in the Top 10 and keep putting myself around it. "So I'm hoping next week and KPMG I can put myself in a better start the first couple days and just keep going."
