Launceston Golf Club’s Jorjah Bailey successfully defended her Women’s Northern Amateur Championship title at Mowbray on the long weekend.
The 15-year-old won the event by nine strokes from her nearest rival, Amanda Smith from the Riverside Golf Club.
Bailey carding rounds of 76 and 75, a seven-over-par total of 151, while Smith returned scores of 79 and 81 for her 16-over-par total of 160.
Tasmanian women’s team and Ulverstone Golf Club member Tailah Mowat placed third on 18-over-par with rounds of 85 and 77.
The corresponding Northern men’s championship was conducted over 36-holes in conjunction with the women’s event.
Devonport Golf Club member Joshua Molendyk emerged from a quality field to successfully take out the men’s title.
The 34-year-old plus one handicapper finished four strokes clear of Prospect Vale Golf Club’s Jack Blair in second place.
Molendyk carded scores of 69 and 70 for a three-under-par total of 139, while Blair finished at one-over with 71 and 72.
Defending champion and Prospect Vale Golf Club member Ronan Filgate finished in third place further three shots back on four-over-par with 71 and 75.
