Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of Australian golf, from those who support our clubs and facilities, act as Community Instructors supporting participation, all the way to those at our amateur events and major professional tournaments.

The success and growth of our sport would not be possible without the passion and dedication of more than 30,000 volunteers across Australian golf every year. We are committed to ensuring that every volunteer feels appreciated, recognised and supported by the industry in the process of working towards our vision that those wanting to volunteer choose golf.

Our volunteers are recognised at yearly Industry Awards nights which take place in each state. To find out more, visit PGA Australia.

Tournament support officials & refereeing

TSOs/Referees assist in the conduct of the GA amateurs events program, including all men’s, women’s, mixed, junior and senior golf events.

They work closely with GA event staff, host club staff and other volunteers to deliver events with a high level of professionalism. Every event is different therefore duties will vary, but may include: assisting staff with course setup (i.e., checking hole positions), player registration, tee starting duties, monitoring pace of play, assist with rulings, scorecard checking and inputting scores into the relevant software program. Ideally these individuals should have obtained Level 1 or Level 2 Rules accreditation on the current Rules of Golf, have strong communication skills and a customer service focus, and a hold a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent).

If this is of interest, please contact the Golf Australia Events Team.
